Dear Jane: I'm Gonna Starting Coming in 10 Minutes Late

by 352admin 28. February 2013 12:53

Dear JaneDear Jane,

I show up for meetings at my firm on time, i.e., at the time the meeting starts.  I’ve noticed that many people show up eight to 10 minutes after the meeting is scheduled to start.  I’ve also noticed that most meetings don’t actually start until 10 minutes after the scheduled start time.

Signed,

Gonna Start Coming Ten Minutes Late

Dear Gonna Start Coming Ten Minutes Late,

Coming late to a meeting is disrespectful of every other person at the meeting.  Avoid doing that, especially if you are more junior and have not yet earned standing.  Instead, bring some work with you or, better yet, talk to someone who you don’t know well and get to know them better.
