Dear JaneDear Jane,

I’m about to go through my first formal evaluation at my firm.  I think I had a really great year.

Signed,

Dear Waiting For a Big Bonus,

You should be seeking constructive feedback after every assignment and, consequently, you should know exactly what every partner will say about you in the formal review process.  Instead of just listening at your review, create a game plan for the next 6 to12 months and use your formal review to get input into the implementation of your proactive game plan.  Follow up afterwards with the partners at your review and enlist them in the ownership of the implementation of your game plan.
