Dear Jane: Partner Asked Me to Fill an Event Table, and Gave Me Three Days to Do It

Dear JaneDear Jane,

A partner in my group is on the board of a civic organization.  He came to me today to fill a table at the civic organization’s fundraiser that the firm bought.  The event is in three days.

Signed,

Obviously Not His Priority

Dear Obviously Not His Priority,

It is important that you take this assignment seriously even if he has left it to the last minute.  You have an opportunity to make this partner and your firm look good.  Start by talking to him about “who” he’d like you to invite and then start dialing/e-mailing.  The table needs to be full by the time of the event.
