Not Giving Up: One Woman's Struggle for Equal Education

by Erica 18. July 2013 15:42

Since this article came out a few weeks ago, I have not been able to stop thinking about it. Can you imagine being denied entry into college, let alone an Ivy League, and the main reason being that a top-notch education would be wasted on a woman who was expected to support her husband’s career? Oftentimes when we are in the middle of the day-to-day hustle, we forget how generations before us fought for us to feel the demands of balancing work and life. Now that we are here, we have a long way to go, but now is not the time to give up. We simply need to be more creative efficient and develop our networks in work and life. Phyllis Richman was denied an opportunity back in 1961. Let’s hope the issue we are tackling today with The Legal Balance, will become an archived “looking back at history” 50 years from now. Her inspirational story is worth a read here.
