Junior Associates Don't Understand Our Firm's Chain of Command! Grrr...

Dear Jane,

I’m a mid-level associate supervising a few more junior associates on a big matter. One of them just told me she doesn’t understand why her drafts need to go through me on their way to the partner.

Why Would One Woman Do This To Another Woman?

Dear Why Would One Woman Do This To Another Woman,

Let’s give the more junior associate the benefit of the doubt and assume her intentions are benign. My suggestion is to have a conversation with her about the value you add to both her and the partner by making sure the drafts are in good shape before they go anywhere further.
